classic performance with a 175

i have found a new classic for sale with a 175 i was hoping to get some performance number with the boat loaded test driving an empty boat is not a good judge of performance

It will run “OK”. Not a fan of under powering a boat. Mfg plate says 200. That being said. I would have to guess the boat loaded would run mid to upper 50s.

Boat dealers will order boats like this to make them seem like a really good deal based on one with a 200. Tracker is world famous for that. Nothing wrong with it, I just don’t agree with it.

What brand 175? Both the 3.4L Mercury and 2.8L Yamaha 4-strokes don’t make the torque of their 200hp counterparts. If you fish solo and light, no poles etc it’d be ok. Though load the boat heavy and you’ll miss the extra power not just on top end, but in holeshot as the smaller cubic inch engine will struggle more.
