Compliments on the transom saver

I picked up my rig from Home Town Marine in Center, TX today after having a powerhead gasket replaced. The mechanic was out front and asked me where I got the transom saver that I have. I told him about "largemouth lou" building them and that BassCat started selling them in the online store. He was very impressed and interested. He said he has replaced a number of motor mounts due to people using the "motor mate" type of sticks. He said that a couple of the guys he was replacing every year were Albert Collins and Todd Castledine...a couple of Toledo and Rayburn tournament guys. He said once he finally got them to start using the full length transom saver, which BassCat has recommeded since the beginning, that they have gone several years without motor mount issues. He said that transom saver is the best of both worlds the way it supports the motor. I told him that was exactly what Rick said and that Rick also said that if he was going to build a transom saver that was the way he would have done it. Best on the market!! Great welding! The best of aluminum you could possibly buy. Not like alot of the full length toters that is not of as good of quality aluminum. Lou is a super nice guy. Back when alot of people was wanting the adjustable. I had already purchased the solid length. Lou emailed me and offered to basically just swap it out. Though I told him no complaints on my behalf. Yeah, he admitted that Albert and Todd are not out there babying their boats but he said that they have not had the problem since using full length transom savers. I spoke with Rick this morning and the fixed is 32in , adjustable goes out to 32. That seems quite high if the 32 is from the top of the roller to the base if the nuts on the mounts.Since you have the fixed is that the total length of how they are measured or is it the total length of the unit itself.I am beating up my paint with the deluxe spring loaded system from Bass Pro. Not to mention replacing the rubber feet at $20 a throw after three months.

Man that spring thing i did once- all it does is let motor build some momentum before it totally deforms the lower half of it. Id get rid of that thing cause when it fails itll drop the motorC.O.D. Jr. III

I ordered the fixed on my 2011 Puma but when I got it it was way too long. I had to trim it up so high that the rigging tube was about to pop out of the lower cowl. I called Allen at parts and got it swapped out for an adjustable one with no problems and it fits much better.

I received the Lous adjustable unit yesterday. It seems to be everything Ive read and heard about it quality and appearance wise. Lou mentioned he had added a bolt to the shaft on the end where it attaches to the motor mounts in order to attach the unit to the motor to serve as a safety strap should it fall off while traveling.Has anyone done something to attach the unit other than drilling the plate and running a bungee around the lower unit.
