Correct set up

I am looking for information on the correct set up for a 2000 Jag with a 225 Optimax- 25p Trophy plus with a 6″ factory jack plate, I ran the boat when I bought it but it didnt have a blow out ring on it. I have added the ring but would like to know the starting pad measurement and to tell you the truth I havent had a chance to use it since I moved. I was told that the boat had run above 76 with a light load but when I picked it up the prop had a gold tag on it like it was new but there are a few stamped numbers on it like its had work done on it. Any help would be appreciated…oh, when I did run it it turned about 70 with full gas tanks (52 gal.), two people (400#) and all of our gear (200#)…….in 2 1/2 waves. I have never owed a Cat or any boat this long nor have I ever owned anything larger than a 150hp. Thanks guys…..

I think you are probably close to being right on as far as set up goes, my 02 jag with the same 25 trophy prop runs 69 loaded with about 35 gallons of gas. Im at 3200 feet so mine should be a little slower. I couldnt turn a 25 Fury with any kind of holeshot, I went to a 24 and it is great except I lost 1 mph on the top end. You might be able to run the 25 Fury, if you can borrow one I would give it a shot, the 24 Fury puts me all over the rev limiter until the day warms up. I might have mine worked to get another 1/2 pitch ito it. If you want to run in the mid 70s loaded I think youre going to have to slap a 250 on it. I have been kind of on the same program you are on, updating my 02 with Hbird side imagers, an HDS7 Lowrance, a new 101 Fortrex, and a Fury prop. My 225 is still running well and had a new powerhead in 06, so Im holding out on the motor. This is the third season for me in this boat, I think I can go new or near new in 2010 or 2011, but if not Ill eventually repower. Mike Dominick, up in Montana

Thanks Mike, I have a lot of parts coming but nothing has arrived as of yet. New bucket seats and butt seats, new style steering wheel some carpeting, a Lowrance Lcx28, lms 520c and several other items. I think it will hit that 75 mark but it will be with a light load but if not its no big deal….I wanted it for fishing the Finger Lakes and Erie and over-all the boat is in great shape and just needed some upgrades. I am close to retirement so this is what I will have until I no longer fish. I am to damn old to worry about running with the pack but I do want the boat to be the best it can be everytime I use it. If I can find out what the starting measurements are for the engine settings I will go from there, I do know that the addition of the blow out ring should make a huge difference in the hole shot. I am pleased with the boat so far and in my opinion its the nicest boat I have ever owned so I really have nothing to gripe about.

Ive never measured anything on mine so Im not much help there. I fish the Federation Nation over here and the only guy that runs off from me is driving a Cougar with a black 250 on it. Mike
