Cougar Mileage (Cougar is similar to Puma) for the Guy Who Was Asking About Range

Had to be an empty boat. My Cougar is just barely remaining on plane at that RPM. Well, it is a 26 pitch instead of the 25 I have been running on the old motor so the boat would be going a little faster. The mileage to speed numbers sound about right though with my new 250 Pro XS and the 26 Fury. I run 61-62 GPS at 5000 RPM. I notice the article says the Cougar has 52 gallons capacity in their test. I thought I had 2 28 gallon tanks not 2 26 gallon tanks. I guess I was wrong on that end of it. They list a top speed of 79.5 at 6000 RPM. Sounds like the guy who was asking about running 76 with a moderate load is doing just fine. I notice that they do not list the prop shaft height or the setback in their test rig.--Bob La Londe Forums, Free Lures, Product Reviewswww.YumaBassMan.com CNC Molds N Stuffwww.CNCMOLDS.com

That is from that last Bass & Walleye article of the Cougar FTD and the 250 Pro XS. Those numbers are pretty good. We will have to dig that one up in the archives. The article was pretty good overall. These are not loaded up, and fuel is full for the testing. The boat was a dealership boat from Florida and not a special boat. Rick went in the day before and ran the boat for testing, finishing the set up the morning of the test. Nothing special, with a Trophy propeller on the 2008 hull, not the 2009, and that was noted. Here is a cheat sheet on all the testing listed, that includes Pro XS and 225 or 250. Hope the link works… http://mercurymarine.com/look_deeper/in … maxProXS=8
