cougar, puma, jaguar fuel mileage?

I have the Mercury 250 pro xs on a cougar. If I run around the 4000 RPM range it does okay but at WOT I need a tanker on stand by. Glynn

i guess by that you mean no where near the 6 mpg range at 4000 rpm? If they truly dont then i want a smaller cat.

This is with my pro xs. Im sure the regular optis do a bit better. Some of the other guys will let you know. Glynn

They can reach 8 to 12 gph in mid level RPMs and range in the 5+ area. The newer hulls are more efficient than previous models also.

cougar FTD (currently advantage elite style hull) w/ 225opti. My boat is very heavily loaded with most storage in the bow area so that hurts efficiency. Im at ~ 3.1mpg @ WOT and can cruise around 3800rpms on smooth water in the high 4s. When my boat is not completely loaded for fishing it will run into the 5+ mpg range cruising. This is all with the smartcraft guage w/ GPS speeds.

I think of as $$$$ per mile instead of MPG. But where else can I have this much fun? BCC ps I dont even want to know my MPG…..it could scare me!

Ive seen as low as 8 gph crusin around and 18 gph at wide open. But then again dont pay much attention to it. Paying attention would only take the fun out of it!
