I WAS ALSO CONSIDERING CHANGING BECAUSE THE PLASTIC IN THE UNIT I HAVE ON MY BOAT NOW HAS WHAT LOOKS LIKE SMALL STRESS CRACKS IN IT FROM AGE AND HEAT AND IT LOOKS BAD AND CAN BE PRETTY VERY DIFFICULT TO READ AT TIMES.

You can just have one rebuilt by a trophy shop in many cases. Or you can sand and repolish the screen you have. BCB

YOURE TALKING ABOUT THE CLEAR PLASTIC FACE?I MAY LOOK INTO DOING THAT. IT WOULD MAKE THINGS MUCH EASIER TO READ IN THE DIRECT SUNLIGHT.

I also have a 95 with a digital panel. The only think wrong with it is the back light does not work. Can this be repaired? Is this a smiple repair that I can do? If not, who can I send it to to have repaired?

The back light is a Ellectro Luminescent pad which is a cutsom made part or the voltage (50 volts) input tranformer which can fail. The transformer is able to be replaced, though we do not know if Southwest Elctronics has any backlight pads form Omegas inventory.
