Did something stupid today

Man, I know it makes you feel stuped, but you probably need to give yourself a break on this one. I did the same thing once with a Triton boat, and I have also trailed a 50 foot extension cord behind my boat. I was wondering why my friend traveling behind me kept flashing his lights at me. the cost to repair, if any, will probably be minimal. Yeah, one morning I forgot to insert the retainer pins on the sliders for the pop-axle mechanism on my trailer. When I got to the lake, I noticed one of the sliders was gone! Never did find that 15# missing hunk of metal slider on my way back home, though Im sure it made quite a travel interruption for someone following behind me!

I went with a buddy to fish Lake Eufaula in Alabama one day and after putting the plug in the boat before leaving the house, we ran into an awful rain storm just prior to getting to the ramp. It was raining so hard that I just knew the boat would fill with water, so I ran to the back of the boat and removed the plug so the water would drain. It must have rained for another hour. After it cleared, my buddy and I went out to launch the boat while looking forward to a wonderful day of fishiing. Well, shortly after the boat hit the water, both bilge pumpls came on and pumped water at a furious pace. We decided to begin the day fishing the rocks in the ramp cove and immediately put the trolling motor down to wait for the water to pump out of the boat. I joked with my friend about the quality of the boat because the bilge pumps worked so well. About 20 minutes later, the pumps were still going at a rather fast pace and I remarked to my friend that the rain storm dropped more water than I thought. 10 minutes after that I again remarked about the quantity of water dropped in my boat from the rain storm and elaborated that I was sure glad that I removed the plug to allow some of the water to drain. We both realized at about the same time that the plug was still out of the boat and quickly put her back on the trailer. Unfortunately, my friend was a talker and told everyone in our club soon heard about the event. For about two years after that, whomever I was fishing with in the club would always ask with a grin if the plug was in the boat. Part of the fun of fishing is collecting stories of the dumb things we have done that are related to fishing. Corky

I havent done that yet. I have launched with out the plug. Thats a one time thing “If it happens one time it wont happen again” I store my pins in the wheel jack swivel support bracket that way if I were to forget them when I swivel the jack they would fall to the floor as a reminder.
