Difference between MK Maxxum and Fortex

The fortrex has a assisted stow and deploy system built into the mount. And the mount seems to be more heavy duty on the fortrex. I have had both and boy is the fortrex nice. Is it $400 nice that is upto you to decide. They are both great. Never had any issues with the maxxum, but I do like my fortrex. I will say this if i was just replacing a used troll-motor i would probably just get the maxxum, but since I was buying my “dream boat” I went all in and got the fortrex. Cant really go wrong with either. imho

Same exact motors for Maxxum and Fortrex. Bracket assembly and lift assist is the difference. Fortrex much heavier and probably stronger. Cosmetically Fortrex is preferred but that does not mean there is anything wrong with the Maxxum. Ive had both and If I was to order another MK Id go for the Maxxum and save the coin.

Just installed a maxxum on a friends advise. I dont miss my old mg and Im not weighed down by a fortrex. Its so smooth I cant see much of a need for lift assist at my age. Maybe in a few more years…. Great TM.

Its not so much the lift assist but the smooth deploy. You can just let it drop and its will not slam. I sometimes forget when im on my buddys boat (Maxxum) and find myself apologizing for letting it slam. Either way they are both great motors.

You can add lift assist to your Maxxum…..it use to be known as Pro Maxxum.
