Well we finally had our first tourney of the year here in the NW. The conditions were as bad as it gets, 34degrees, rain/snow, 35 mph wind, record flooding, muddy rising 40degree water. With all that I was still excited to get my Cougar on the water. The day started out sweet by blowing by a Ranger and letting a Skeeter think he was gonna pass me before I gave her the gas! We struck out early and decided to make a long run on the main lake, everything was great till we started pounding four footers. Unfortunately we ran into and ultimately through my guess a six footer! When we came up we were sitting in water up to our waist. If anybody is thinking of buying Pro Qualifier Rain gear, it works! The force ripped my graph off the front and yanked the troller pedal up thus causing the cables to break and shatter the top of the motor! That was the end of the day for us, other than fighting 4 footers all the way back. Of course the Basscat came out unharmed and we had a good laugh. Well get em next time.
Even though you dont readily see damage boats can only take a beating to a certain degree. Slow down on that rough stuff and pay attention to those falling waves.
I know that fear just not that result exactly. It aint bad til theyre too tall to turn around on and theres no way to idle em off the pad because all you do is go straigtht up in the air.C.O.D. Jr. III
Wow, Im glad I stayed home, hope you can get everything fixed quick. Theres a trolling motor repair guy over there in CDA, but I dont know his name, but Curtis does, let me know if you need it. Mike
LOL! Yeh that was my limit! I really wasnt going fast but those big swells just caught me off gaurd. I should have everything put back together by the next one. My complement goes to Basscat for building a tuff boat. I cant promise I wont go all “Ike” again but I will be more careful!
