We deal with a couple of failed hydraulic plates a week and manual plates don’t fail. Unless your in flat (shallow) water then the hole shot is not that much of an issue vs. the failure potential. All boats can improve their performance with a hydraulic plate, usually on the hole shot by raising it on hole shot then lowering it to run.
I have a Lynx with a Atlas hydraulic jackplate. I use each and every time to get up on plane. It helps tremendously with holeshot .
