Sounds like the registration holder for sure. Did the owner before you lose the cap? I dont believe it was a very deep pocket at all.Britt
The round “puck” seems to be completly sealed. There doesnt seem to be a lid. I cant understand why there is a wire going into it. Its more of a cable than a wire. At first I thought it was a gps antenna from the previous owner but realized that it being stuck under the deck made no sense. Im going out to the boat now to take another look.
The round disc that you are referring to goes to you dash and is the for the heading indicator. Wondered about mine also until I turned it over and read the sticker.
??? What is a heading indicator?
On the old omega dashes they had a built in digital heading indicator that told you north 1.23 degrees or south 6.43 degrees. a high tech at the time compass.
That is probably the compass sender coil for the BP dash unit. There is probably a oui lock, (velcro) tab up under that right front locker, and there was an aluminum strap over it at one time with brass screws. If the compass works, you can refasten it. Sorry though the earlier poster was not knowledgable of units in this time of production in 1995. They though this was the registration capsule and overlook a compass sensor. BCB
Thanks all. Makes sense now that I was able to read “high speed computer cable” stamped on the wiring going into the puck. Another one of lifes little mysterys solved.
Always remember, there are no dumb questions on this board, if you have a concern always feel free to ask. You might get some answers you dont understand, but keep asking and you will get the right reply. SAM–GAF,OFGBAYOU BANDIT
Always remember, there are no dumb questions on this board, if you have a concern always feel free to ask. You might get some answers you dont understand, but keep asking and you will get the right reply. SAM–GAF,OFGUnfortunately, this isnt always the case Sam. It seems those of us who have just purchased our first Bass Cats are discouraged from asking questions. We get compared to mid-schoolers by a poster and scolded by BCB for asking questions, looking for a manual, or participating on the board. Complete with double taps for emphasis. You will note that several of us who have purchased Bass Cats recently have stopped participating. Perhaps that was the goal. I dont know, I can only speculate. But the result is that I, and suspect others, now just read and read and read posts put up by others hoping someone else asks a question that might help us. Its a case of being “seen but not heard” I guess. While many questions can be found in FAQ or through the search feature, not all can. So please please please, you long time owners keep asking questions or posting info about your boats so us newbies can learn about ours. BTW, I really enjoyed the pictures of the Pantera in the water pictures. I was curious about what type and length of boat bumpers Ill need and those pictures really helped helped.Anyway, Ill be quite now… After thanking Scott for speaking up when I should have a week or so ago.Tight lines everyone.
Anything is possible but probably not recommended !Just go with a 36v troller ! OR, install electric motor on engine skeg ? p.s., There are no dumb questions here !Last edited by dbasketman on August 27th, 2013, 3:07 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Where in Ill do you call home, I am from the Mt. Vernon area, most 10 horse lakes in my area will let you load/unload with big motor and then troll. This is where you have to be creative with the boss in explaining a need for an aluminum rig with a 10 horse motor ALSO!!! It is similar to why the shoes always need a new purse!
I used to fish some of the HP restricted lakes in Illinois such as Baldwin with a 40 HP limit. All would let you load/unload with the main motor and many would let you use the main at idle only speed to move about. Sometimes the “idle only” rule wasnt posted. Most of these lakes are cooling lakes for power generation. Contact the power company and ask if idle speed is allowed. All I contacted said it was ok. However, if they catch you above idle speed, you will be banned from the lake.
I am also in Illinois around the Joliet area. Most of the coling lakes do not have a hp restriction but do have speed limits of 40 mph and yes they are enforced by DNR. I know 2 people that were cited to prove it. Some of the lakes that have the 10 hp limit I find I get around just fine with the 36 volt trollig motor, it just takes a little longer to get where you are going.Shabbana is a good example with about 1/2 the lake is electric motor only, the rest a 10 hp limit. Several other lakes are no wake but you see that being abused frequently. No wake here in Illinois is defined as causing another boat at rest to move when you pass it or 5 mph.One advantage with the Smart Gauges is that you can set your big motor to troll by rpms or mph. I can get down really slow for trolling if I so desire.I have always power loaded the boat onto the trailer without any problems.I also thought about adding a kicker motor but it would have been a waste of money and added weight to the boat, at least the way I fish.John
Absolutely possible and it has been done in 9.9 and 10 hp on BCB models before, as well as 25 HP for 25 HP maximum reservoirs. It lets you fish in comfort instead of banging tin. BCB
I live in Greenville, about 62 miles from Mt. Vernon. Coffeen is four miles from my house with a 25 hp limit. Cedar is about an hour away with a 10 hp limit. Sancris is about 60 miles away with a 25 along with otter, etc. Sure gets old.Probably the best part is Rend is 70 miles away and KY lake is about 3 hours away. Gov Bond is about one mile from my house. and Carlyle about 20 minutes away.. And you are so rilght about the purse and shoes My wife can make a shoe store out of any store..thought I was doing well until we went to Bass Pro and Cabelas…shoes get expensive
