Easy View Tackle System

I installed this on my Classic and wish I hadnt. As a matter of fact Im probably gonna take mine down and see about putting new foam on under the lids. You will have to put SCREWS in to get it it to hold. All the bouncing around will knock them loose and no glue I could find will hold it without screws. You will tear your bags and most will tear off when in ruff water, especially the heavier plastics. The screws they send will break off at the head when you tighten down on it. I broke 1 rod when one end came loose, worked its way under the rod and broke it when I lifted the lid. Just put your worms in a worm bag and get those file organizers for your plastic trays. Wish I had done that to begin with.

One of my tournament partners had it on his boat and it was ok. I dont put them in my boats but I dont see anything wrong with them. Do not pull any foam off or cut out any. Just screw it to the cross member on the underside of the lid. Just tighten it up until it is snug against the foam dont ape it or you will/can twist the head off like CSF did. Also, drill a pilot hole and you shouldnt have any problems. Judd Lasiter

I used Cooks Go To Tackle system in my Cougar. I didnt use screws, I just glued the lure hanging strips onto the inside of the lids. Theyve been there for almost two years and havent broken loose yet.

I had the Easy-View on my old boat and had a whole kit left over and put a few bars up in my Cougar. As above, drill pilot holes and do not remove any foam. I like knowing where my stuff is… I seldom hve any issues with bags falling off or the screws coming out. I did have one strip come off, which I have replaced yet.. but it was my fault as where it was mounted was too close to the latch. Ill be trimming the strip and reattaching next week…. I dont have as many mounted in the Cougar as I had on my old boat. I load up what I plan on throwing, and this accomplishes several things… I have what I want near me when I need it, and it keeps me on my game-plan. Its not difficult to grab something from the day box.. so I keep a few other essentials that I think Ill need in there. tc

Like billius I used Cooks. I cut them in half and used screws to mount them to the cross brace. Cut in half to mount on each side of bracket for lid piston .You will need to drill one hole in each piece to match other hole when mounting to cross brace. Then decided I needed one more rack and DID NOT like the idea of drilling holes in my lid. I trimmed the foam away the exact size of the Cooks (cut in half) and used two sided tape, get the auto body side moulding type at a parts house or body shop. I have had no problem with it coming loose. I could have used tape on all four racks, but didnt have a problem screwing to the cross brace. Hope this helps Good luck. Mackey

Well since we are talking tackle storage systems., can someone reccomend a rod holder system to mount in my 05 cougar? I think Osprey had a product but seems like they are out of business. I just need a system to mount 8-10 rods in the locker. On another note, I know those plastics tackle systems are cool but myself, I keep my plastics in a clear sterilite or rubbermaid plastic storage box. I put all my like products and colors in one box and use some binder dividers with labels to display color, size, ect. Then i lable the top lid to tell me what product i have in the container. Usually one box will hold plenty of my yamamoto creature baits, another for my brush hogs and such. This way they stay fresh and if some products like yum, will keep their scents. This also makes it easier when using one type of bait from having to keep opening the tackle storage lid and reaching down to grab a bait. You can just keep your little plastic box on the deck of the boat. anyways, just my 2 cents.. Can basscat reccomend a after market rod organizer sytem for my rod locker? thanks, gabe

It will mount fine, though we will not mount them because eventually they will rust as they are spring and mild steel in combination. If a consumer would desire that, then they will be fine. Though we always look at long term ownership, and we dont want something rusting under our lids from our installation. BCB

BCB, the rust you refer to is on the Easy View not Cooks right. I used stainless steel screws to mount Cooks (plastic rack) to cross brace only and used tape on the ones mounted directly to lid bottom. With better planning on my part I would have used tape on all racks. Tks mackey

I screwed mine in the support in the center of my previous boat center lid. But a word of cation…..they rust! When I got my cat I got a cooks to go system. It is mostly plastic and works great. I would post a pic but my boat is in storage for the long winter!

Tom, I also used Cooks, its all plastic no rust. I cut mine in half and used two on each side of the front hatch lid. I screwed two halfs to the brace of lid. The other two are glued on with Devcon 2ton (two part epoxy). You need to trim away the foam liner and glue directly to the lid. I hang spinner baits and jigs on both and never had a problem. My only concern is some of my spinner baits (homemade) have 6/0 hooks and they are difficult to get out with out enlarging the hole. I think Kelley did almost the same thing and has pictures he may post. Good luck a simple project

Flyswatter, Ive got the easy view system in my Classic. It works well but forget using the sticky pads. You must screw them into the support on the lid or it will not hold. I use the one in my front storage compartment a good bit. I keep my favorite plastics and a couple of spinnerbaits hanging there for quick access without digging into the box. Ive had mine in for about 4 years now and have no issues with rust yet. The cooks system will work just fine as well, I just didnt like the way it looked. Tom I used the Cooks system in my 06 CougarFTD. I epoxied it onto the foam on the lids, I used it for jigs and bags of plastic. The glue was holding when I traded it in after two years. Ive not put anything on my new Cougar yet. I cant decide if I want anything like that again.
