ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

I have a 01 Jag and last weekend went to pump out the livewells, it wouldnt come on so I changed the pump and it worked , now today I tried it again and nothing ! took the pump out and hooked it to straight 12 volts ..it runs fine so I thought ok must be the switch , went to the local marine shop and bought a new switch ( replaced it with same brand switch that was in it) ....it still dont run . I also checked the breaker and its fine ..any ideas anyone????? this is really starting to get to me I hate electrical problems !!!!!

Ive found most of my issues in recent past to be dealing with the terminal block on the transom of the boat, where all electrical components are connected. Look there, and you may need to tighten, spray lube, or loosen then tighten some connections for good contact.

Also be sure you are resetting your circuit breaker. Main harness and a small button on the end.

Trim works, circuit breakers are good. I will check my wiring harness and connections. Thanks for all the help!

Thats what I figured too so I started checking again and found a loose wire on the terminal block. Went ahead and tightened all of the screws. Several of them were loose. Now everything is working again!!

I know they have to have the terminal block! But they are ongoing causing trouble. Nothing against no one. I know it going to happen due to vibration and constant pounding. Yes, they must have a terminal block for the multiple wire connections, to prevent saddling or looping wire connections. We doubt this is a terminal block loose or corrosion issue on a 2016 model. The situation is sometimes the wires and connections into the terminals. Usually where the ultra small depth finder wires enter the butt connections or a spade push on. Then again it could be a power robbing depth finder. A voltmeter at the connection will determine that. If the incoming power to the unit is 12.95 then you have issues beyond the boat.

No power at the unit was 10.89. Since tighening all of the terminal screws it is working. Seveal were looses enough you could move the wires. Guess since its working I will just have to wait and see if it happens again. Ive been working on electrical and mechanical items long enough to know intermittent problems are the worst. Cant fix what is working!!!
