So, I needed to disconnect everything from two of my batteries, lift the top off the battery hold down bracket, to access replacing my gas/water separating filter attached to the interior of the transom. No big deal, get it all done in about 15 min. Unfortunately, I forgot to label or take a picture of what battery wire clusters went to which battery posts . To complicate matters a little, I run a 36V trolling motor set-up, so re-connecting everything correctly was a little confounding.I call a local trolling motor shop, and the young gentleman I get on the line tried to walk me through what he thought was the correct way to re-connect everything, only confusing me even more.Go inside, get online, and pull up a schematic for wiring three batteries in series for a 36V set-up.Back to the boat and start experimenting with this connection here and that connection there. Two hours later, I get lucky and everything is as it should be!To prevent future confusion, I wire-tied all of the positive/negative wire clusters and attach Dymo labels on each wire cluster for future reference.............lesson learned, the hard way!Has anyone else fallen victim to this conundrum?
Digital camera is a amateur mechanics best friend! Had to tear down carb this week on the zero turn (love ethanol gas) and took photos of all connections cause memory not wort chit. Saved me.
