Ever Heard Of This?

When I ran to my spot I turned the motor off then this solid beep went off for about 5 seconds then never again. Like I said the motor was off the only thing on where my two graphs its only happend a couple times any ideas?

Hmm, there must be something electrifying the system when you turn the key off on the engine harness. This is not tied to the boat harness and comes from the engine company. Graphs and other items would not effect it as we keep those separate. It could be the engine heat sensor is hot when turned off and no flow, and then activate the sensor just before turning off. If it becomes worse as water heats up it will be related to the heat sensor on the heads.

BCB would it sense low voltage if it were hot all the time with the master swtich on? Maybe it had a quick voltage drop and set it off?

I think BCBs hit it with the sensor. After a high speed run you should idle in to your spot to give the engine a moment to cool down. With an immediate shut down the motor has no cooling capacity and temperature will rise momentarily until heat is dissipated Bob

Depending on where in the heating/cooling cycle you are, the engine can overheat like you described. I run the smartcraft system the temp runs around 125-127. The beep I get is not a horn or a beep from the smart gauge is a low tone sounds like interference b/c is a break up sound only for about 5 seconds its got me.

Dont know what year motor you have but I had a 2004 Merc 200 EFI that had a similar problem. The alarm would go off after a long run if I turn the key off and back after a few seconds or made a long idle in a no wake zone. Installed a new water pump and it still happen after a call to Mercury if I remember correctly they sent new thermostat housing. Sorry but I dont remember what the difference in material was between the two housing.

It likely is a sensor on the motor as the experts stated, but I wanted to mention that I had the same thing happen yesterday after I shut my 07 Opti 150 down after a run. Turned out the beeping came from my HDS-8 low voltage alarm. Was set at 11 volts and I had been running my SS all day.Just a thought in case it turns out not to be the engine.
