Eyra handling

Comes out of the hole faster than any boat I have driven or been in. And planes well at very low speeds. You need to have someone take you out for a drive. Lake of the Ozarks 35.5 MM if you are near. You or anyone else welcome.

Handling is great. I let a gentleman drive mine yesterday that was worried about going in and out of small crooked creeks. He was impressed.

The Eyra tends to run a little more nose down than the other 20 foot BCBs, so there should be no porpoising. Have run mine out in the big water of L. Ontario the past two weeks a lot at 28 – 30 mph. Thats trimmed down. All the way down, mostly.If you trim it up and drive that slow, shell hop like Flipper. Wait, Flipper was a dolphin…or was it a porpoise? Dolphin.

Kevin is accurate and all of the Eyra models are not that fast out of the hole, though the 200 class seems to be. The Eyra will not porpoise at low speeds trimmed down and she runs more flat with a high hull clearing than the other models. Once you trim her up then you have to pick it up, as the hull does not use much trim. It is pretty much set as it is, depending on the load. MIne does awesome. I can keep it on pad at 23mph. Doesnt hop at all.

Mine runs fine at thirty mph. Although I rarely run at that speed.

I do this (hop like flipped) in my Sabre from time to time… (Wife doesnt like to go fast, at all. In fact, she thinks 30 is fast!) I find driving at 28-30 is a bit challenging sometimes, should I use no trim at all? I dont use much, 5-6 clicks maybe… Just enough to soften up the steering.

I have always liked the look of the Eyra and my local dealer told me I can put a 225 on it and still get mid seventies.

Ive heard the same rumor about having it loaded “correctly” to achieve max speed but I would think that applies to any high performance bass boat these days? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Your probably right as to max speed but I took some of the comments to be about handling on pad at speed but not necessarily max speed

In response to the capabilities of an EYRAs handling, there are two descriptions to discuss. One, while I fish a lot of rivers and areas that have crab trap float markers everywhere, you need to zig-zag around them and the Eyra can respond better than any boat I have been in. It is fast to respond to steering input and that responsiveness is one of the best qualities. Then there is top end. I am new to this boat and am taking it slow at seat time. Yes this is a high performance baot and can achieve top end in the 80s but like all high performance boats they chine walk. I need more time to learn to drive the chine walk. I am sure it has somewhat to do with load balance. I dont think a small amount of tackle makes a difference, but I fish often by myself and I weigh 250 pounds. That makes a difference! I havent figured what to do about that yet short of loosing weight but heck I love to eat!!!

I have a Merc 250ProXs and a Fury3-26pitch. Never yet to see top end. Best so far is 72mph @ 5200rpm. There is a lot more to go, but that is where she chines and I stop trimming.I wonder what 6000rpm is like! soon!!! But like I said I am taking it slow.
