Ive always been really interested in an eyra. Got to sit behind the wheel of one today for the first time. Im 65 and have fairly long legs. My shins were in the console, which was disappointing. Other than that, loved the layout and feel of the boat. Would still like to drive one to see how it handles. Is there anyway to move/modify the drivers seat to create a couple more inches of space???
Just bought a 2015 Caracal. Im 61″ and weigh 245 and I can tell you there isnt a lot of room behind the wheel in it either. Had a tr19 and tons more room behind the wheel but I didnt buy the Caracal for room behind the wheel. Huge deck and great layout for gear and big water ride made it the boat for me but I know what you mean about room behind the wheel.
My buddy is 63″ and all leg and all I needed to do was move the hotfoot and he had plenty of room. He had no complaints about it.The seat is about as far back as it can go.
Hot foots do restrict leg room, and a Caracal should have good leg room for most larger guys. The Eyra has long been termed a cockpit boat and lowered seating. Most Owners that are taller have been acceptable to the legroom including several taller guys. In house we have a couple in the 6 3″ and 6 2″ range.
Im 62″ 250lbs, and I have plenty of leg room in my Eyra. The Hot Foot is on a slide, and the slide is all the way forward. In comparing my last 2 boats to this Eyra, It has a little less room than my 20ft Triton, but it is easier getting in and out of the driver seat. It definitely has more leg room than my Nitro Z8 had. I had to tilt the wheel up to get up from behind the wheel in that boat. You may want to consider the Cougar FTD or Puma FTD. Probably not much difference in length, but the geometry is different, as mentioned above.
Thanks for the comments. Im planning to come to the public demo rides during the dealer meeting to run a few models to see what fits best. Looking forward to seeing them all.
1rudebee, I have had 4 Eyras and I currently have a Puma. Im 6 tall and the Eyra fit me perfectly when I slid the hot foot forward though I have had other “big” guys say there wasnt enough room… I think its just a different style than what they are use to. I have noticed that in my Puma, there is almost too much room (for me). I cant even reach the platform to rest my left foot unless I slouch down in the seat. I live near Beaver Lake in NWA. Youre welcome to come take a ride/drive in my Puma anytime if you are nearby. I think of a fella thats your size it might be the model you are looking for. Travis Fox 479-841-8696
