Eyra Owners….

I have a 2013 Eyra with a 250 Merc standard gear case and a 26 Fury prop on the manual slidemaster jack plate, curious as to where you others have yours set for best perfomance, mine is currently flush from factory. Hole shot is great, not much on top end and gets squirley as you get into the gas. I realize this is a new animal, but I have owned other Bass Cats. Looking for opinions. Thanks in advance. Linc W.

I havent ran one f those, but for a starter, how is steering torque if any? Maybe start by lowering Jp, and make sure you are not trimmed too high.

Eyra models require very little trim and even less than other BCB models. If your light then they need some gear to run well. Otherwise setup must chage to maximize the performance empty, that can include the propeller.

On my Eyra the 26 Fury drives better if run it deep. Im no expert on set up though. For me 3.5 inches or so below pad seems to be about right. If I bury the jack plate all the way down it is much easier to drive at top end but gives up a few mph. Ive run a four blade Bravo I xs a good bit and honestly the boat is a lot easier for me to drive with this prop.As BCB stated, the Eyra is weight sensitive. I run with a ton of gear in my front compartments and I like the way it drives like that. But if Im fishing the Red River in a tournament, and anticipating some talk at takeoff with the Skeeter guys, I drop a few boxes, shift the weight to the rear compartments, and hope I draw a number a few spots back .

On your boat are you running a hydraulic plate?? I have a great hole shot and the boat drives very easily with little torque in the 4-5K RPM range, when you get in the gas and push it up is when it gets squirley. I may be too much in the trim?? I also am not loaded down with a lot of stuff either? I will probably do both, call Andy Greene and see about messaging K Short. Thanks for all the opinions. Linc W.

I do have a Detweiler hydraulic plate. I think the squirrley feeling youre getting will correct with experience primarily. Im not sure how much youve driven it but I would say that it took me 30 hours before I could control chine walk at high speeds comfortably without much thought. Tweaking the set up will help but experience will help more. The 4 blade prop makes a significant difference in drivability at higher speeds, in my opinion.

Running the Eyra / 250 Merc /Detweiler hyd plate with 26″ Fury also. Thinkin about going to the Bravo 1 XS myself for a little driving comfort What size Bravo do you run and does it keep you out of the limiter loaded light?

Lincwoody…you may want to check out my thread titled “2012 Eyra spare prop recommendations”…Lots of info on there about props I tried for my boat. I settled on a 27 Bravo XS with additional vent holes drilled. WAY easier to drive then the 26 Fury, better holeshot, mid range and load carrying with just a slight loss of top speed.
