Eyra setup help please!!

Hey guys. I’ve been running a cougar the last year or so with a merc and my cousin liked it so much he recently purchased a eyra with a 250SHO. We love both boats but his hole shot and speed are not there. Best we can get is 72 with a 25 fury at 5700rpm and 72 with a 25 tempest at 5800rpm. Have tried a 26T1, 25T2, 27 Tempest(wouldn’t get on plane) 26 worked fury, 23 solas scorpion. Nothing gets him out of the hole good except for the 25 tempest and 25 fury but they aren’t awesome. But my top end is 3mph better than his in the current conditions. And his hull is faster than mine I know. Any help getting us set up would be appreciated. Thanks

Don’t know about the sho but My Eyra with a 250 pro xs 4 stroke turns 6200rpms with a 24 fury (77-79mph) & 25 tempest plus (78-82mph). Both come out of the hole pretty good. The fury is slightly better out of the hole and cruising at low rpm’s. I have a hydraulic Jack plate and 1/4 inch makes a big difference in each prop’s performance. Hope this helps some.

What height do you run each at? We are running an atlas on this boat.

I have an Atlas JP, 5-6 on the Fury and 4-5 on the tempest seems to be the best height for me. I don’t have power poles but have 36 volt trolling motor so 4 AGM batteries and a ton of tackle.

This sounds like an engine, throttle adjustment or fuel supply issue. That many different propellers are not going to have those same effects.

Bass cat we are at 1200’ elevation with water temps around 80 what should we expect to see out of this rig with a 26T1 if everything is right with the motor? The T1 has a really hard time on hole shot right now? We were seeing 71 at 5700 with 2 people live wells full. Plate was set at 4-5 on atlas gauge.

You should be seeing mid 70’s out of that setup quite easily. With more possible when setup and driven correctly. The SHO is known for its low end grunt. It should be pretty quick out of the hole. The Eyra’s I’ve been in with SHO’s all made a fool of my optimax out of the hole, and were very close on top end.

I agree with BCB! Get her checked out.

As an update to anyone else who might be experiencing similar issues with a sho powered boat. The high pressure fuel pump was going bad and ended up kicking the bucket(as suspected a fuel issue by Keymaster!) the hole shot is awesome now. Hoping to string it out and test the top end this weekend. I will update the results. Thanks everybody!!
