tooooo many variables. Could make any of them better than the other-clownshoe loaded with an entirely empty box or like really loaded?Belly tanks or rear?Prop 3 or 4?Strong motor or weak one?Yamaha, merc, or etec?3 batteries or 4?Minn kota or motorguide?Poles?Heck overall Id say a p2 with a 200 and no poles.Of the 20s-The best holeshot I ever saw was Doug Swanns 08 cougar ae, friggin loaded loaded loaded(and 2 loaded guns) no poles 3 batteries a strong 225 proxs and a 25 fury. Was 1-2 seconds and never 3 at times when it was 108 and water in the wells. Would run 71-72 all day too with 2 of us full of gas and water in the wells.Last edited by clownshoes on February 9th, 2017, 2:11 am, edited 2 times in total.C.O.D. Jr. III
I understand there are an infinite number of variables. But lets say Mercury powered with full live wells and a tournament load. Which hull design is out of the hole the fastest.
Again, you get to pick the hole shot, AND the top speed. A 21″ Fury will rip you out of the hole, but top end will suffer. Basic idea is lighter is better, given the same power. I dont think ANY of em are bad when reasonably loaded and propped. ANY of em can turn into dogs if you fish with 3 other 300 pound partners, and load every compartment with jigs and lead stuff…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
They dont make a 21″ fury Oldtimer. And I understand how the performance can change by proping and weight distribution. I know my p2 is rocket out of the hole. Im just curious as to which premium boat has the fastest hole shot by design.
As Oldtimer said, there are way too many variables. However I can compare my last CougarFtd/250 ProXs to my 2015 Caracal. The Caracal is faster out of the hole, but it has a belly tank and one 26 gallon tank. Ive had 2 CougarFTDs, a Baycat, and now my Caracal. With full live wells and fuel…I dont think any of them had a decent hole shot. Empty live wells and half a load of fuel, they all were decent.
Not a 20 but while they still built them, probably the Classic with a 200 Merc. Mines 10 years old, every front compartment full, and with a full belly tank of gas, and just me Im on plane in 1-2 boat lengths and to 60mph in a hundred yards or less with a 26P Fury. Newer ones with non-hording owners probably are faster yet. PII be right there too but they are 200 lbs heavier then the old Classic with same hull. With the Classic out of the line up now (new one due out soon), PII probably fastest hole shot now.

I like the Fury so much I use that without thought when referring to a 3-blade prop. Although I have seen what looked like two 20″ furys recently. Went from 25 to something much less when guys run em across a sand bar. BTW I doubt any bass cats are designed for hole shot specifically. But as mentioned, you can tune it as you see fit. A few years ago several wanted to go skiing. I pulled my 26 off (not BCB boat) and put a 21p on it and off we went. One guy had a set of trick skis, short and work either direction, wanted to take off backward (starting with back to the boat, face down in the water. Told me to “really get on it” as it was a hard to start. After the aborted first attempt, he said “dont get on it so much, almost dislocated my shoulders”. Of course I NEVER tried to wind it out as it was on the RPM upper bound quickly (motor had no rev limiter).I have yet to find a prop that wont launch my classic quickly. A trophy being the worst, but still not bad at all. A 26p fury is like a slingshot, even with three adults (and one dog) aboard. You want bad hole shot, you should have ridden in my old Astro, where I was running a 28p chopper. Mad top end, but took forever to get out of the hole, and forget about more than three people.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
I believe the Caracal with the belly tank (Set up for just holeshot performance) would be the quickest. Top end is slightly better with rear tanks. Also more bow lift when on plane. My Jag and Eyra were just OK out the hole. My Sabre FTD with the Merc 175 flys out the hole, and thats with a 25 Trophy. Would probably be better with a Fury.
All variables equal (load, livewells, engine, prop, poles, no poles, battery configuration, ETC) I would guess an eyra would be quickest
