A good body shop or marine repair shop will be able to get that fixed up and the boat will be good to go. They can get all the needed information about materials from BCB.

That’s a simple gel only repair and it’s not likely wood caused it. More likely there could have been iron or engine parts in the wood and these caused that vertical corner shear.

I don’t think there’s any way a piece of wood caused that, but stranger things have happened, I suppose. I have seen several stumps in my area with a piece of re-bar driven into the top of the stump. I guess they were marking the stump for some reason.

At any rate, I’d get it fixed by someone who does it for a living, particularly in that location.

I kept my previous Cat up to shape. Kept it clean and waxed out of the weather unless fishing I had a top glass man fix a couple of small booboos I had like the above as they happened. Come time to sell and buy a new Cat it sold in less than 24 hours. The three guys looking at it could not believe it was almost 7 years old at the time. It brought top dollar too. Just my thoughts on taking care of your stuff. Thanks too BCB.

Bama does your code name hold true. Are you a bama guy? If so who is your fiberglass guy? Im from bama just north of birmingham. Been looking for a good glass guy?

I have a similar ding in my boat as well. It is going in the shop next weekend, really do not water getting in where it does not belong so I am always proactive when these things pop up.

You can tackle that one yourself if you like. If there’s a gel coat repairman in your area who is good at keeping jobs small, then we would let him tackle it. If they try to wrap into the flake that’s a bigger job and one you don’t have to have on this repair. Have a conversation with the local repair guy and tell them to keep the sandpaper and grinder away from the flake and it’s a simple job.

Like they said, your very particular about your rig and that’s good! It will make someone a fine used rig someday with you caring about it so much.

i hit a rock in the same spot and had the same damage ! 1 would have it fixed asap because mine started dripping water the next day

Very possible it could have happened the afternoon before and I didn’t notice it till the next day till we took out and after wiping it down.  It was a 2 day tx and we had gone to gas up after wiping it down the first day.

I live North of Huntsville almost into Tennessee.  However, I have used a glass guy in Decatur at the old boat harbor.  He is located at Riverwalk Marina.  I can’t remember his name.  Sorry about that.

Thank you for the reply back! I been kinda looking for awhile. Decatur is not that far. I hear of a few around birmingham. I like to see repairs that have been made after a few years.
