I have 2, one BPS extreme and one home made, I have pulled bass from the thickest slop with spiderwire!!!!!! also use for swim baits and C-rig, I like them ALOT!!!!

The 2 piece have good and bad in my opinion. The good is they are versatile and for the most part durable. The bad is the section where the the rods telescope. I have split 4 or 5 in the telescoping sections using them flippin with braid and 1 ounce jigs. I know use them for football and 1/2 to 3/4 jigs and baits. I havee had several brands and will not start that debate about rod brands.Cliff

Im not sure exactly what you are asking about, but I have used a telescoping team diawa rod for several years. the “break” is above the grip and reel/handle however. The rod collapses about a foot or so so that it is a bit easier to get in and out of rod boxes (it is a 76″ flippin rod). But there is no significant joint to break, the tip section slides into the handle section, and the taper prevents the tip section from coming all the way out, and there is enough side contact between the two pieces that strain there appears to be nonexistant.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

I have an original “Flipping Stick” made by Fenwick probably 20 or more years old. Have replaced foam handle with cork, no problem breaking. I have broke some retractable flipping sticks but NEVER in the butt section at the joint of the two sections. I use G- Loomis and Diawa mostly and never a problem. This type rod is not like what I believe you are considering a two piece rod. Catch a fish and enjoy it.

I would prefer a 1 piece rod but I have used and have 1 now that is telescopic on the butt end of the rod and have never had a problem. I can see where 1oz jigs in the jungle might be hard on a rod right though. Judd Lasiter

Thanks guys, Ill give it a try. Its a 76″ heavy Falcon Rod. I guess what I was asking. Has anybody broken a rod at butt section of a telescopic rod? bob

Bob, That is a good rod, with Fuji components and will do a fine job. Dont worry about the telescoping blanks, they are not weak, they can actually be stronger with both the blanks supporting hte butt section properly. BCB

Bob, I have one Lowrider and two Cara 76″ Heavy (6) Action flipping sticks with the telescopic butt-ends. They work great and have served well for all presentation techniques. I use the Lowrider for Carolina-rigging; it is a little heavier than the Caras and is a little more tiresome when flipping/pitching. Last season, I got an Falcon Original 76″ telescopic in Medium Heavy (5) for tubes and lighter bottom bumpers… The Cara is the best value with the life-time warranty, but any of the three will serve you well.
