My VmaxSHO motor finally ships out on Monday!!!! Nuff said.I need some fuel related advice going from my 2 stroke to my new 4 stroke motor. It seems longer but my boat has been sitting covered for close to two months now. I am 90% certain that I have added fuel additives (StabilBlue and Ring Free) 1 to 10 to my gas tank per my previous Yamaha HPDI. Do I need to add anything to my existing fuel going from two stroke to four stroke, should it be drained or do I not worry and get on water ASAP to breakin my Four Stroke motor?
Tom…Im no expert on 4 strokes…but Id think the same additives you would use in a 2 stroke would be what youd use when running a 4 stroke, at least the Stabil would be and I cant see how the ring free would hurt anything either since both additives are used to treat the fuel, not the engine per se. Of course what the additives do to the fuel is beneficial to the engine. My uneducated vote would be to get it on the water and run it. Talk to the Brech boys…they will steer you straight.
I would top off with fresh fuel and do the break-in. StaBil is o.k., personally i prefer the Lucas products, their stabilizer, and especially their fuel treatment, it has lubricating qualities i like, and use it in all my engines.
