Topic: Foot Pedal Control Question

With the Cats I have had in the past I have bolted the foot control down in the recessed area which is difficult to do due to the size of my arms. I was thinking of drilling out the screw hole and using the same rubber grommets that are used to keep the trolling motor mount attached to the boat. Does anyone foresee any problems in doing this? Oh I have a 2008 Cougar FTD Thanks James

those have a much bigger diameter than the holes on the foot pedal right? or maybe im just thinking of the minn kota foot petals. i have always just used self tapping screws to hold down the foot petal.

How about trying a drywall insert for the stainless screws. Then you still have the other option.

Before having them installed my trolling motor foot control would sometimes pull loose in heavy seas. I had mine installed so Im not sure how easy they are to install, but they sure work great. Give it a try.

Well, theres a lot of posililities here I would clean it up real good with some alcohol and try some of the self adhesive heavy duty velcro…. I have changed the screws out on mine 2 times….going larger each time…(working on foot pedal/cables) . Think Ill try this next time… The last time I changed them I used some “GOOP” Marine adhesive sealant in the screw holes… seems to holding better….kind of like locktite for wood / metal.screws.
