Fortrex to Ultrex Swap – 16 Caracal

Is this a direct replacement on mounting holes? I figured the foot pedal would be different but wasn’t sure about the TM mount. If there’s anything else I need to consider I’m all ears.Thanks,Gary

Bracket lines up perfect with the Fortrex holes but I had to drill new holes for the pedal. Mounting the bracket was a pain because the access hole is very small and the plates underneath. Must be a small armed feller at BCB that installs the trollers. My arm was bleeding and had fiberglass in my arm for a couple days after the install. The Ultrex is awesome tho.

Like mentioned, the holes for the mount line up, but the ones for the foot pedal do not. What I did on my P2 was to make a template for the holes for the Fortex pedal and transfer that to a piece of 3/4 inch starboard. Then, I attached the starboard to the recess using the old holes, and then the new Ultrex pedal to the starboard. Not only did I not not have to drill more holes in my boat, but it also raised the new pedal up so that the buttons at the back are more easily accessible with my foot. I also got an extra pair of hands taking off the old mount and installing the new one, which made it pretty easy.

One more question. Will my lowrance downscan transducer fit on the motor along with that US2 that is built in?

I dont know how big the Lowrance transducers are. My Humminbird transducer was on my Fortrex 101 and the 112 foot is quite a bit bigger so I had more room on the Ultrex

Got the Fortrex off today. Had everything off in 15 minutes. Super easy. Not sure why BCB didn’t use all the MK mount holes and drilled 2 of their own. The holes they drilled are literally right next to the MK factory holes. Almost touching. Just waiting on Monday’s UPS for the new Ultrex. Fishing Chickamauga later in the week and can’t wait to utilize the Spot Lock.

My arm was bleeding and had fiberglass in my arm for a couple days after the install. The Ultrex is awesome tho.Been there! The next time I got some sand paper and got all the burs smoothed out in the hole. Then I grabbed some axle grease and lubed the hole its self (yeah, some petroleum Jelly would have been smarter and less messy)……… Made getting arm in and out a lot easier. No cuts and less bruising.
