Fuel Additive

I wonder how much the additives really work. I use Marine Stabil in every tank and so far Ive never had an issue. (Knock on Wood). My fishing partner has a 08 150 Pro XS with over 500 hours on it and has never put anything but gas in it. I have never seen a person rougher on a motor than him. He replaced a compressor this year, but thats the only thing he has ever done to it other than regular maint every year. His last boat had more hours than that and it was treated the same way. I had an 09 Bass Cat Puma and was told that I did not need to use additives because I used my boat every weekend. Well, sure enough, I got water in the gas that produced the alarms. I now use the three mercury products at every fill up. I suggest you do the same, or at least use product 1 and 2 at every fill up and 3 when you store the boat. For peace of mind, I use all three Mercury products at ever fill up.Corky

07 Opti 200HP and I have been using Dons cocktail for last year and a half. Before used Quickleen (every time I add gas) and Starbrite. I noticed a slight improvement in how motor ran when I switched to the Quickcare additive and the black in my prop mostly went away.

The three products by Mercury are labelled as 1, 2, and 3. Number three is the Quick Store which is to be used to stabilize the gas when stored, but I use it all the time, as people say that gas starts to break down after only two weeks. It is recommended by Mercury and Don that you use products one and two at one ounce per five gallons of gas at every fill up. I use these three products all the time and have had no gas related issues since using them.Corky

I also use Dons cocktail of Quickcare and Quickcleen each time I fuel up, and add stabiliser only for winter storage. I only started using these products when I got my first Merc two years ago and will continue to do so. Like mentioned, for me it provides peace of mind as well. I do not want to have an experience like Corky with water in my fuel. Sorry, dont know anything about BioBor products.
