2017 Sabre OptiMax 150

It seems I have water in my tank.

It has been sitting up (Yea, I Know its June)  I cranked it this morning. After starting motor, I tied it off, had to start again.Thought nothing of it because it had been sitting started right back up. Went and moved the truck. Parked about 40 yards away. About half way back to the boat I heard a alarm then it shut off and would not crank back. Took off fuel seperator and poured it into a glass. I can’t see water in the bottom but I have to put the glass up to my nose to smell gas. Whats the fastest and easiest way to get the fuel out. A buddy recomended a battery operated pump from harbor freight that is rated for gas or diesel. I am just not sure it will reach the bottom of the tank.

This is exactly what I picked up from Auto Zone, new water separators in hand. Hopefully a clean bill of health upcoming.

Your problem may be something else. If you get water in your fuel you should be getting an alarm from the sensor in the VST.

2017 Mercury Opti Max 150

So….I got all of the old gas out of the tank. I replaced the fuel/water seperator filter, put in 20 gallons of fresh fuel and added a bottle of heat for anything that may have been missed. I did have to tighten the filter at the ramp a little more after I tried priming the bulb because it was leaking a little air when I pumped the bulb to firm. Took it to the river and still will not start….

Back at the house I depressed the 2 Schrader Valves for any extra air or water that may be there. (Bottom Valve released air pressure top valve released fuel with good pressure. I drained the VST. (Small amount of fuel cam out and even tiltied the motor forward. The bulb holds firm when primed.

When I intially started the motor and it ran after a few cranks when it quit an alarm was sounding as it quit for the last time before all of this started.

Batteries are hot. The filter did not come with a new sensor. Does it also have to be replaced?

I am at a loss…….

have you checked the fuel / air diaphram?  There were some issues with those about the timeframe of your engine.

That has not come up on a check list I have researched but I will look into it.
