Purchased a used 2020 Caracal with dual 26 gallon tanks. When I first got it in the spring, the fuel selector in the rear was tight and took a bit of oomph to get it to switch between right and left. Now, it flips really easy, but does not go to the OFF selection – which is not a problem. The gas gauge though only seems to be showing one tank regardless of which I select not he control panel. In other words, it shows the same amount of fuel regardless which tank I select on the master panel. Couple questions, should the fuel selector be a little stiff or just flips so easily? Do the tanks pull from each other like some of the older model Pantera’s? or am I most likely just running off one tank regardless of which selector I have chosen in the rear? Getting ready to head it over to fuel up. I have been running with the selector on the Left designation (used the Right tank primarily early on in the season as I was fishing alone and wanted the weight balance in the Left tank to offset mine). The Mercury master gauge shows 20 gallons consumed since I switched over to the LEFT – if it takes all the gas in that tank and none in the right, i will have more answers and possibly a bad fuel selector or valve.
Fueled up this afternoon, both left and right tanks took 11.5 gallons each. I know it has been set on the Left selector since my last fueling so, it appears as if the fuel is pulling from each tank. I had 20 gallons used since the last fuel up. Fuel gauge showed full after filling the one tank and the other showed 3/8 full until i filled the right tank. now both are showing full. I guess that fuel is pulled from each tank to keep them balanced. I like that, just needed to know so I don’t run out on one tank thinking I have a second tank. Will just have to keep my eyes on fuel consumption with that in mind.
