Fury Plugs Suggestions

Sounds like you may be a little high, though we are not sure. And you should not need vent plugs in a Fury.

Bob, I have a 2008 Cougar FTD dual console, Pro XS 250 and 26p Fury. I am 64″ 260. With both tanks 3/4 full and all fishing gear my BEST speed in optimum conditions has been 78.6mph GPS. That was at 5860-5880 rpms. I have the 8″ manual jackplate and mt engine is lower than most guys I see. My inside plate is about 1/2 inch below flush on the jackplate. The boat handles great. I am confident that all boats will set up differently. Most otherCougars I have seen are running flush on the inside jackplate of not 1/2 inch above. Just wanted to give you my feedback on my setup. I am sure it will vary from boat to boat and prop to prop based upon how much “stuff” you carry in your boat and how it is distributed. That boat is DEFINITELY capable of more than you are getting right now. Be patient and play with the setup. Youll get there. It took me almost 3-4 months before I had it where I was comfortable. I could get MORE out with some adjustments but top end speed is not as critical as performance and stability for my driving style. Good luck as you work with it. Prop shaft is at 3.5 below pad. That is where I have liked the performance the best so far. Fury propellers do not come with PVS plugs. They are totally open in NIB condition. You should not need any PVS plugs in your rig. BCB

I just looked up the pot, and when the MFG told me that it was special order and there was a $400 minimum I looked up an alternative and just did a direct replacement. Bob, that sure is a huge rooster tail on the photo of your boat (jet boat like). Motor has to be too high. My 09 Puma 225 Pro XS (26 Fury no plugs) 75.5 [url=mailto:mph@5700]mph @ 5700[/url] rpms, livewells empty, 10 gallons of gas, two people (me @ 215 and buddy @ 240), 20 rods and about 150 pounds of tackle/gear… under calm conditions. Standard manual jackplate…prop shaft set 3 5/8 below pad.
