FXP on Erya with 250SHO

I got a 27 FXP today, and can turn it right @ 6000 rpms and it ran 79.8 , 50 gals of fuel, full tourney load, 2 225lb guys, and my boat is loaded (too dang much) water temp 46-49. The hole shot was not nearly as good as the 26 Fury, I was disappointed because all I heard was great the hole shot with this prop is, but I didnt raise the motor at all, perhaps that would help with the hole shot? Doug, I routinely ran my motor at 2″ below pad with the SHO and Eyra. I had a great hole shot with a 27T1. Your load and top end is very impressive.

Fly , I had let the JP down with the Fury because it would hit the rev limiter, I didnt mess changing with the height today. Do you think raising it will improve the hole shot? Sorry for the endless questions, just trying to gain some knowledge.. Thanks!!

Doug,I had what I thought was a good hole shot with full load and two bigger guys (myself and dmoore58) at 2″ below pad, full load on my 250SHO/Eyra. Roughly, 3 1/2 to 4 seconds if memory is correct. That was with 26 Fury. Turbo I think states the hole shot loss going from 26 FXP to 27FXP is marginal. I ordered a 27 but never got it because it extended out to 8 week wait at the time and I didnt want to wait that long. I wish I could help more. Keep us posted. Like I said your numbers are nothing short of impressive especially with 50 gallons of gas with that weight and load being two tenth mph away from 80mph. I do miss my SHO. I absolutely love my SabreFTD at this time and when the 175SHO comes out I might do a re-power to that technology. I have no fears being an early adopter. Doug, how long does it take to get on plane with your current setup?

With the 26 Fury it was roughly the same as yours 3-4 sec, with 27 FXP it added 2-3 seconds.. But it doesnt even try to blowout like Fury would occasionally. And it seems to have a lot better bite and be a lot more “hooked up” at all speeds. My theory is it will take some tinkering with motor heights..

Pedal to the metal with that prop. I had the same experience with the 26 FXP. I think you made the right choice with the 27 FXP if you can play with motor height to improve your hole shot. Where is your motor on the JPlates? Are they even? Not sure if your SHO experiences are similar to mine but there was not a significant difference between summer and winter WOT performances vs my two stroke experiences. Maybe 1.5 mph difference with SHO. With my past two strokes Id see as much as a 3mph swing between summer and winter WOT runs. Good luck!

It was at 2 1/4″ below pad the first day I had it out. I raised it up to a little under 2″ below pad and Im about to go run it to see if there is a difference. Ill get back to you with how it performed. I wish there were more info out about the set up on an Erya. Thanks again for your advice and info..

Doug, I have been at 1″ below pad with the SHO. A little slippery there relating to my driving skills. I dont remember experiencing any WPSI challenges. I kept it 1.5″ until I sold it and returned it to factory specs. It would run like a scalded dawg at 1.5″ below pad. We had Bama96 PII/200SHO at 1.5″ below pad and he posted an insane number with that setup. I think it was 77.4 to 77.7 mph on the GPS. I recorded his run via Humminbirds recording option. The SHOs flat out can scoot. I know this doesnt help on hole shot. At 1.5″ below pad I dont remember having any challenges with hole shot. Do you have hydraulic JP? Per other suggestions a Hyd. JP will meet all critical demands.
