Topic: Gas debate – lets hear your thoughts

I still cant decide whether or not if non oxy gas is better to run instead of regular 87. Since all of the non oxy gas around me is high test I believe it may be worse on the engine since carbon buildup with the higher test is greater. I almost think the carbon issue may be a bigger concern than ethanol considering I am running an additive to take care of it. I spend a lot of time on Lake Minnetonka which has a 40 mph and a lot of channels to idle through.Look forward to everyones thoughts on this one.

Finding non-ethanol gas in a lot of areas is a pain. Here are a couple of websites that list stations with ethanol-free gas.Pure Gas has a mobile app as well. http://pure-gas.org/http://www.buyrealgas.com/

Im in the same boat as Bill…no pun intended. Not much choice for non-ethanol. But Don Weed on BBC says pick one and use it. Dont keep going back and forth between the two.

For those pinned to ethanol the answer is easy. For those of us not pinned to ethanol I just dont see answers listed here that answer the question of ethanols stripping ability(which no product stabilizes) vs predetonation issues and temp issues with higher octanes. My understanding from industry sources and mechanics is to avoid ethanol at all costs because of its solvent issues not water issues or phase separation issues.C.O.D. Jr. III
