After 2 seasons of fishing out of my 94 Basscat and constantly running into all kinds of problems from lack of maintanence over the years and do-it-yourselfers, I called Basscat to see if it would be possible for them to refurbish my boat. While they werent able to do it, they did put me in touch with a man that works at Basscat named Gary Wright, and said he was the man for the job. After pondering the decision to pass by hundreds of boat repair shops on my 5 hour drive to Mt. Home Arkansas, I finally took it to him a while back. Well, I went and picked it up yesterday and it is unbelievable how good my boat looks. Attention to detail is an understatement...not to mention he did alot of things I didnt ask him to do just because they needed to be done. Unfortunately I didnt take any before pictures because I had no clue the after would be so incredibly different! That guy is the real deal! Gary Wright 870-481-5049
Garry started at BCB about 20+ years back in Gelcoat under Rick himself. He then moved to days from nights and began training again for repair, tooling and other again under Rick, with Gary Packard who has been there around 25+ years in tooling now. They work days in the tooling, rigging and repair shop. Then there are several who work after hours for themselves or others. Garry w. Has a multiple bay shop at home and uses some from BCB to assist, as does Bobby Copeland. The work to be performed varies in recommendation as to who, based upon what type of work you desire to be done.
Basically BAMA you can sum up Gary and Bobbys work in one phrase-“Looks like nothing ever happened”.Im admittedly a huge homer but its a real art at their level. Those guys cut stuff off, cut hole in boats, all sorts of crazy stuff for repairs. It always looks like nothing ever happened when they are done.Gary did some work on a top cap insert gouge and said it turned out “pretty good”. “Pretty good” was “Totally gone” when I saw it.C.O.D. Ward I thought he had some glass work done. Little wet sanding and polishing. I love to see those older Cats shine like new. Guess he had it rewired etc.
Rewired, New dash (analog with gauges), lid shocks, lid seals, pumps, plumbing, front sounder, rub rail, rathchet tie downs, etc. I dont know how he got it to shine like it does, but as soon as my buddy gets the seats covered, I will post pics
It shines because he sat there and hand and shoulder rubbed the “dog poo” outta your boat almost every night he could for some time.I expected to see all of these power tools in his shop…..All there was was a bucket of various wood blocks that he put paper on..C.O.D. Jr. III
