So, Ive been getting ready to purchase another truck. I decided today that Id check each out, drive them, and give each a fair shake. Ive always been a GM owner, as my family has too. Note that each was a V8 and all were crew cab models with cloth seating. Drove the F150 today with the 5.0 V8 and was very impressed. It had the most comfortable cloth seats and the most room in the 2nd row of any of the crew cab models. Acceleration was nice in the 5.0 V8 compared to the ecoboost I drove earlier. I liked the V8 better myself, not taking anything away from the ecoboost. Drove the Dodge Ram 2nd with the Hemi. It drove nice, but rode a bit more rough. Seats were much harder than my taste. 2nd row had plenty of room, but the bench was one solid piece, not split like the GM and Ford. Until it got into all 8 cylinders, I wasnt very impressed with the responsiveness. Lastly, drove the GMC Z71, my favorite and what my last truck was. Still very smooth, but it didnt stick in the corners like I thought it did compared to the Ford. It was very comfortable, but the 2nd row had by far the least amount of leg room of the 3, which was a major issue since we have 3 kids. So……..I ended up driving the Ford home for the weekend to test it out further and have been very pleased. Kind of funny how things turn out differently than expected. I wanted to follow up with an honest review given some of the recent threads on here, one of which I posted on. Keep an open mind when you are shopping for your next vehicle. Best wishes to all the BCB family and have a wonderful dealer meeting!
AND FOR 800.00 TO 1000.00 YOU CAN HAVE LEATHER OF YOUR CHOICE INSTALLED……I REALLYLIKE THE FORD,BUT GM HAS BETTER REBATES AS OF NOW AND BETTER INTEREST RATES..GOT TO STAYAWAY FROM THE DODGE. MY OPINION THEY ARE JUST UGLY…NO HARM MEANT TO MOPAR OWNERS,JUST MY OPINION……. DOWN THE ROAD YOU WILL BE HAPPY TO HAVE THE LEATHER,AS DEALERSDONT REALLY CARE ABOUT A TRADE IN WITH CLOTH…TRUST ME, I JUST WENT THROUGH THIS….ROBIN
If your looking for a toe vehicle and play truck I recommend giving the ridgeline a look.Unlike the others the ridgeline is the same undercarrage and driveline from the base model to the topend Take it for a drive before you say anything And yes it will toe you BCB no problem .I just wish they would release the diesel modelPractice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO

Great read and good luck to your endeavors.
Newly designed Silverado coming out for 2014. Hold off if you can as what I have seen it is going to be a show stopper. I am still waiting on a 1500 with a small block diesel that gets 30 MPG.
I agree, would be great to have a 1/2 ton diesel option. My buddy has an Eco Boost, and has to rub it in how my 2500 Duramax rides rougher than his new Ford, and yes it does. I can still smoke that 6 banger, he smiles at me how quickly I can pass other cars with the boat hooked on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Best of luck with your new Ford,Bill
I really dont like leather. We have lots of corners and hills and I slide on leather (maybe a corner a little too fast). Im 65 and 235lbs. The ridgeline isnt a big enough vehicle for me and my kids behind me. Plus, in the hills, you really need a V8 (to pull a boat well). Trust me, ive tried the v6 route already. I have a GM card and have been a loyal owner since I was 18. Since they wont let me use all my points (3200) for a new truck, and my local dealer only wants to give me 3K off sticker, Ive been pretty disappointed. Other dealers will offer me as much as 6500 off, but I can buy an F150 for the same price and dont have to have a stupid credit card to get it (Im still half mad thinking about it). One of my customers is the Service manager at the local Ford dealership. He bought a new King Ranch ecoboost. He told me to get the 5.0 V8 instead. This one is averaging around 17.4 mpg here in the hills running around, which is great (paper will probably show slightly less). After driving an ecoboost, I actually like the 5.0 better. Plus it took off much better than the GMC and ecoboost. The newer 5.3 GMCs have a 3.42 rear gear ratio, which isnt as spunky off the line. It is more for fuel economy. My 07 had the 3.73 and it was much better. All in all, this new F150 is very impressive. Now, well see how well I get along at the dealership tomorrow when it gets to $$$! Just wanted to pass along some honest input. Bama, Im sure the newer GMs will be much better. I will check them out again in the future. But as of now, Im pretty confident in my decision! Thanks and be blessed guys!
1rudebee,Wondering why they wont let you use all your GM points??? I havent bought a new truck for a long time, but when I was, I dont remember ever not being able to use my points. That is very disappointing, possibly make me want to do business out of town!?!?!? What is the dealers excuse??Also, I dont like leather either, always cold in the winter, and hot in the summer. We have the two extremes up North!!!Last edited by Fish Doc on August 6th, 2012, 2:47 am, edited 1 time in total.

The 3/4 ton 2500 just wasnt practical for me. Im back in a 1500 silverado. Im not happy with the way a half ton Chevy or ford pulls my boat or Polaris ranger. I just came out of a Toyota tundra and it was the bomb but might as well poured fuel on the ground. Oh well yall keep us updated on the diesel.
