Gorilla Hull

There was a thread over on bass boat central in the BCB forum about Gorrila Hull, its probably worth reviewing. Pretty much all positive.

Three Louisiana BassCatters that I know of have let Al add a Gorilla hull…. .RickV….kking…..2007Puma250ProXS all have Gorilla hulls on their BassCats. I would not add as there is potential for performance loss on top end . I am currently working with a guy on performance and his boat has the gorilla hull added. If what he says there could be a loss as much as 3-5 mph.

I had it done on my 01 P3 and love it. If you are trading off boats every couple of years it is probably not cost effective.

Id recommend having it done. Al will work with the boat to make sure it doesnt loose any performance. A guy that fishes in my club picked up about 4 MPH with his installed on a triton. I know RickV is back to where he was before gorilla hull. Its peace of mind knowing you never have to worry about anything ever again.

A 10% drop in speed is pretty significant. Are there any better alternatives for hull protection than Gorilla Hull?

I bought Josh Sikes Puma that has a Gorilla Hull. I paid Josh to take it back to Toledo for their tune up.They are supposed to have a guarantee to get your boat back to the speed it ran before the G.H. was applied. According to Josh his boat ran 79+ light loaded and 77 loaded before the G.H. After the G.H. was applied it ran 75-76 light and 74 loaded. As of this date , and after being tuned , it still runs 74-75 light and 71-73 loaded. I have called Toledo 4 times now as i am 10 hrs away, and not in position to run back and forth.I have tried tried other new props , tried engine height from 3 1/2″ – 2″ below the pad with no speed gains. Now i am being told it must be the replacement gearcase that Josh had put on a few months ago. Seems almost everyone looses 3-4 mph which the tuning process is supposed to rectify. I am glad not everyone has had our experience, but if speed is important , get the details in writing .
