got some hours on the Caracal

So. it finally stopped raining here enough for me to brave the cooler conditions and get the Caracal on the water to begin breaking in the SHO..Lets just say I am very impressed with how this boat scoots... and man.. can it turn... may need a seat belt for all passengers..so I put 5 hours on the show.. and opened her up a couple of times to 5k rpms... and was hitting 70mph... mostly very high 60s... and realizing I can over trim... so.. still learning how to drive her and getting her set up..Right now the jack plate is still level.. which is needed for break in period. but will raise her about 2.5 inches once I get 10 hours on her and see how she runs..I am betting I can get close to 8- mph out of her when all said and done.. and that is FAST!!! for me anyhow.. will get me where I need to go.The center rod locker is something I just love.. in the tubes I am putting 8ft rods,, with rods socks on them.. and I am stacking rods... still working on my tackle.. and its organization.. it is all coming together now..I did do some fishing.. made sure all pumps worked, all electronics worked, trolling motor (fortrax 112) is a beast!!Watching those fish on the 12 inch HDS is awesome.. its like HDTV.I need to find a dip net that will work in the net holder.. sad part is, i can not take any of those out of the store without buying first.. Take a tape measure for the dip net as there are many variations that fit and we like some with either small hex rubber mesh or mesh with coating from what we have found. Do not raise the engine 2.5″ and go, raise it in small increments as the Caracal likes the engine really low. We had some already try to go higher than we suggest and they dont run well. Keep it lower than you think it should be and it should run fine. Lightly loaded with no one else it might gain some MPH for some just for fun runs.

One beautiful rig for sure! Low water – I wish our Calif. lakes were like that, a lot of them here a couple hundred feet down and the way the weather is going doesnt appear that may change too much?

Raining in Houston today so I went out walked the boat show for a couple of hours. Met the folks from Bowden Marine and Phil A. – very nice folks. Saw the new Caracal – pretty boat for sure, very well thought out and it will surely fish bigger than it feels. Anyone in the market for a new ride should check it out.Tom

What a Sweeeeet Caracal, I thought all the SHO Pro Techs have said for the First 5-10hrs to Run Her fully Tucked In, Run Her HOT, alot of weight in boat, alot of gas, and to not trim her out or up, that way the Motor fully breaks in????? Ive read that several times, I have all of my 4stroke Outboard Customers break them in like that, Ive asked Merc and They said thats the Super Psycho Correct way, ha ha. Once Again KILLER BCB, the Color Layout is superb
