Tournament is cancelled. Sounds like for good reason. Says entree fees will be automatically refunded. All Im out is 500 for my lodging.
Floaters in the lake are not good. So, smart move.
Very unfortunate for the anglers and local businesses, but 100% the right call.
The lake is a mess, and continues to rise and we are staring at 4 more days of rain starting tomorrow.
Please keep it on Grand once dates are rescheduled BCB!
YES!!! Please keep it on Grand.
We drove 21 hours from Long Island New York to make our first ever Bass Cat Owners Tournament, we were 1 hour away when it got cancelled 🙁 . Spoke to a few people we knew and heard the logs floating in the lake where some of the worst they have seen in a long time + the rain incoming is gonna make the lake dangerous for the remainder of the week. Didn’t realize how bad it was while we were driving, wish we had been informed sooner that there was a possibility of cancellation. They should bring the tournament to a less volatile weather region next year like Guntersville / wheeler lake/ Kentucky lake / lake Martin .
another just thing I wanted to throw out there and it probably won’t happen but it would be amazing if they had one of these tournaments up in Cayuga / lake Champlain / eerie or any of the lakes up north to give us north east guys some love even if they had 2 overs tournaments a year for separate regions. Murphy’s law though the first year we decided to come 21 hours from New York to fish this tournament we have dreamed of being in the weather doesn’t cooperate. Safety first though bass cat did the right thing by canceling just wish we had more of a notice . Please consider bringing a tourney up north for us northeast bass cat owners please !!!!!!!
I also was less than an hour from my $1K lodging.
I completed a U-turn and made it home safely.
Only 16 hours of diesel burned.
🙁
edit- A fine lady on Grand Lake reimbursed my Airbnb $1K. Good people there.
Again, please hold an owners tournament sometime during the summer near the finger lakes // Cayuga // Champlain // eerie. Even if you ran a Midwest and a northeast tournament and do 2 owners tournaments year. Tons of guys up here with bass cats. Even if a different division of bass cat has to run it because i understand it’s far for everyone at that works at bass cat to come up to New York. It would have a great turnout and the fishing up here is incredible!!! 20/40 bass a day on some of these lakes and huge smallmouth
Update – we are still 3 hours from home was a painful u- turn to drive all the way back home to Long Island NY the road felt never ending. Last night at 11pm our trailer lights stopped working after a 14 hour haul on our brand new 2022 caracal so that stinks we have to figure that out before we proceed. 1500$ of gas burned and around 600$ in hotels. I think we were the farthest team coming for the tournament. Safe to say we are shot, extremely hard journey and haven’t left the car since Monday. Would’ve been well worth it to meet the bass cat family we were so excited to meet rick pierce and all the great people in the bass cat family but we are definitely disappointed the weekend had to be cancelled. Again we understand it was for safety and it was the right thing but all week leading up to the tournament we called every single day and where told the tournament was still on up until this announcement. We probably wouldn’t have known it was even cancelled I called by luck on Tuesday to ask when the pre tournament meeting was to get numbers for launch and stuff that’s when we were told it was cancelled
Might’ve been the hardest trip we have ever done and we have fished all over the country from guntersville to eerie to Okeechobee
pretty upset our trailer lights stopped working we take great care of our boat you could eat breakfast off the rims it’s so clean , well oiled and stays garage kept all year long one last kick in the knees on the long journey back
Ha ha, Champlain would be awesome and there are dozens of Cats around. More and more every year. Have dealer not to far away too. Happens to be my home lake (south lake) so would be excited to have it so close. Sorry for your wasted trip and hope you are back home by now. You got more gumption then me dragging a boat around the City to get back on the Island. We’ve made the trip to Montauk a few times to fish stripe bass charters and always timed our trip to avoid traffic as much as possible but can’t imagine dragging a boat around down there no matter the time of day. I live east of Albany so have been down that way a bunch of times. Wife has family down there. Always came back with bialy’s because nobody up here knows how to make them even if they know what they are. 🙂
Maybe we will run into each other on the lake sometime.
Arrived back home around noon today long trip. But yes ! @Schodackbassman so many cats over here in the north east they gotta hold a second owners tournament up here at some point. As I said continue to have the mid-west tournament per usual and also have a second one up here for the rest of the community it would be incredible. Weathers perfect here all spring and summer as well no weather would cancel the tournament. I understand it’s far from Bass Cat headquarters however they could have one of the many community members located up here help run the tournament even if not everyone from Bass Cat could attend it would be a really great weekend and could really help grow the brand. fishing up here is some of the best in the whole country as well it would be a really nice tournament destination. Lots of camaraderie and good friendship’s would be made if one was held up north. lake Champlain or Cayuga would be my two picks to hold the tournament. A 9 pound smallmouth the NY state record was just caught out of Cayuga this last season these goby eaters are growing BIG! Pound for pound these smallies are the best fighters in the USA
Lake of the Ozarks!!
Plenty hotels, motels, restaurants, bars and so on. The weather in the spring is a wild card “Wherever” you folks decide if and when you want to reschedule this event!
Kyle, you guys should have stayed and fished. We drove down the day after we got notice it was canceled but went anyway. We sucked it up in Horse Creek on Thursday and then went further down the lake on Friday and Saturday. We launched on the bottom end of the lake and fished all kinds of creek cuts down there. We caught about 65 bass on Friday and got about 20 on Saturday before calling it early with some rain moving in. We had some lunch and made it back to our cabin right before the heavy rain started. We had an awesome trip, even though we didn’t fish a tourney, we made the most of it. The upper end of the lake was the worst part as far as debris went, but there was still plenty on the bottom end. It really wasn’t difficult to navigate the bottom end of the lake at all.
