Heres the skinny on the name change… My sister and brother-in-law own Anglers Choice Marine. They had three locations – Martinsville, VA; Lexington, NC; and Moneta, VA. They were looking to expand to a fourth location. They were part owners in Greene Boat & Motor since we reopened the dealership in February 2008. Since the dealership is existing and has a good reputation and a loyal customer-base it was a natural move for them to approach me about buying out my interest in the company to add this location to their Anglers Choice company. The timing was right for it. Our company has grown every year since 2008. We are profitable and have a great team of employees and some of the best customers in the world. Their offer took good care of me, gave my employees much better benefits than I could provide as a stand-alone location (this was very important to me), and Anglers Choice has a strong reputation in our industry that has been built on customer service (taught by my mom) and I knew that my customers would still get great service and be treated as family. I will still stay on staff here as the “general manager” and will still be the face associated with the Spindale location. We are still selling Bass Cat Boats and have no plans to change. We love Bass Cat – the Pierce family, the quality and work ethic of their employees, and the amazing boats they build. The Pierce family has always been great friends of ours! They believed in me when I decided to reopen the family business and I believed in them as they navigated the terrible recession that we all faced. It is my hope to spend more time with my family since my personal demand at this dealership location will be slightly lessened. I have a seven-year-old son and a six-year-old daughter that need Dad at home a little more than I was able to be there. I also hope to fish a little more – with my kids and at a tournament level. Again, I am still at the dealership nearly every day and will be running the day-to-day operations. The name change will be the biggest change that our customers see. Our customer service, love for this industry and the sport of bass fishing, and dedication to always become better will still be as strong as ever. We are off to a great start in 2015. Anglers Choice was recently recognized as a Top-100 dealer by Boating Industry Magazine. This is a very difficult list to make. My mom and dad made the list once as well. I am fortunate that I have been able to play a part in the legacy of Greene Boat & Motor and equally as fortunate that I now get to play a role in the legacy that Anglers Choice Marine is building every day. We are still the same family that we have always been and I have a deep love and respect for my sister and her family. Im looking forward to the days to come!
