Help explain random warning beep

03 FTD w/ 225 opti & smartcraft. This year since the OI I have been experiencing a loud warning beep coming from what I believe to be under the dash. It has only sounded while at idle, stays on for 1-2 seconds and goes away. This usually only happens once per trip. Engine temp has been anywhere from 80 to 130 degrees when sounding occurs so not overtemped. No alarms are displayed on the smartcraft and water pressure is normal. On the last trip out, the trim numbers have shifted up approximately 1.6. The motor typically was full down a split second after reaching zero and hit the trailer portion around 5.4. Now the full down is 1.6-1.8 and trailer portion begins at around 6.8. I dont know if the two issues are related and havent checked to see if the trim sensor has come loose. Any ideas? Not many trustworthy service places around so prefer to do any work myself. Thanks!

Mine was doing the same thing. Pull the engine cover, in front of engine locate two valve cocks with a black hose running between them. Pull hose of one, put a cup underneath and open petcock and drain some gas/water out. Close, hook hose to other petcock and do the same to the other side until nothing but gas is running out. Alarm is water sensor in your water seperator on engine. Consequence of using gas with ethonol in it. Ethonol is hydroscopic. Water in the fuel! You can drain the petcocks. If it is not water in the fuel, then it is possibly the oil reservoir on the engine. BCB

Thank you! I did not think of water in fuel but I have been running the tanks a lot lower between fill ups. Delaying the pain if you know what I mean! This should be an easy fix! I guess the trim issue is seperate but I am pretty sure I know whats wrong there. Thanks again!
