Or even more. 3-4″ will make it much easier to pop a slalom skier out of the water and hold the boat up on plane without letting the skier drag the boat down enough to fall off plane at slow speeds (20mph is a good ski speed for kids). We would go close to the actual propeller in size if you dont want to pull it to go fishing that same day. If you want the skiers, or tubers to be really serious about their sport, then do as OT57 suggests and drop way back in pitch. The smaller pitch will let you run a very low stall speed and keep that rig on plane for those wake boarders. BCB

Thanks for the help. Not looking for “hard core” sking/tubing, so If I read BC right, since I currently run a 26″ raker I should get a 25″ hi-five. That way I can do both fishing and tubing the same day without switching props. Is that correct? Thanks-Joe.

23 or 25 depending on what your turning that Raker.

…recommend a 23 P for a 200 HP. The whole reason you want to run the 5 is for hole shot and slow speed planing for ski and tube applications. The 23 will get you up easier, and still push the PIV plenty fast enough for fishing. A bonus–you will really like the 5 as a fishing prop in shallow water, in the spring time. Thanks guys for all the help. To give BC a little more info, currently with empty wells, 1/2 tank of gas and just me I turn about 5600 at WOT. Based on that would you go with a 25″ or a 23.” If its a wash I will trust Mr. Whitten, since he seems to have run the HI-five on all of his boats in the past for both fishing and tubing applications. Joe, You need to lose the Mr. stuff with me. Im just a Joe Lunchbucket fisherman, but I do have some input here. A 23 OR a 25 will work in your application–just understand that the 23 will be a better “play” prop, and the 25 a better “fishing” prop. For what is is worth, my Hi-Five, run on a 250 Pro XS is a 23—and it is a ROCKET on the hole shot. And, I still can push 62 on top, without hitting the rev limiter. Thanks for all the help Mike. I went to my local Rude/Merc dealer and they were hesitant to go to a 23. They were worried about the rpms. So if you think a 25 Hi-five will give me a significant advantage over my raker (especially for tubes) I will paly it safe. Most of the time 1/2 of the day will be fishing and when it gets hot and slow, the other half will be for the tube. Thanks again.-Joe
