I too dont see any real advantage to a hole shot plate. Although, there is a backwash plate for the Slidemaster that I believe would offer some advantages. It mounts inside the bottom of the SM using the pre-drilled holes on either side of the adjustment screw and prevents water from shooting up throw the jackplate when youre coming off plane. C&O Marine sells them for around $40.00 for 6, 8, and 10 in. plates. I plan to install one this year.
