I think the coating Toadrustler is describing creates a textured finish on the hull, rather than the slick gel coat. GRR884, you are correct though about sanding. Ive been told by a couple of Allison owners that they come out of the mold with a slight wedge on the rear end of the pad, approx. 1/8 in. tall, that they sand down as well as the surrounding area. Doing so creates much more lift and removing that lip allows more bow lift with less trim.
