Humminbird install

Brian seemed to think yall might be interested to see how we mounted our new units. We mounted a new puck on the bow and a new puck where the old one was on the stern. Wicked thick fiberglass on the bow. We mounted the bow unit (858) on two blocks of nylon to raise it up a little for easier viewing/access. Installing the nylon was the trick. We thru-bolted it to the bottom of the well. And I reached the bottom of the bolts with a nifty reacher and thin shoulders. Removing the rod organizer for access was key. Then I held my phone up there for a picture of the finished install. Finished product. We mounted the transducer on the old MG with a mounting kit from Humminbird. Might consider adding some protection once I knock it off on a stump this April at Santee. Now on to the 998 on the helm. We pulled the old unit and couldnt fit the new unit in the old hole or in a new hole (we thought). So, we converted the old hole to a mounting plate for a RAM that would hold the new unit. One stainless plate with a backing frame, bolted through the fiberglass. We had to remove the wheel to get the right drilling angle. Then we cut a route for the wiring. Well cover it with a little cover dodad. We mounted the transducer with one of those Transducer Shield & Saver things as recommended here. It worked great. We used some adhesive tie-wrap holders for the cable. Those may or may not hold up...And thats pretty much it. Cant wait to get it in the water.
