Hydraulic brake actuator (trailer tonque) repair….anyone?

When I removed mine to change it, it turned into a puzzle at first. When removing it it sort of fell apart without me getting a good eye on how it was put together. In the end, it went together easily after studying it some. It goes back together, easier, with 4 hands, when a person is doing it for the first time. Good luck.

I did one a long time ago and it seemed like a PITA. If I was to do one today, a lot would come back to me since Ive done it in the past. And as brewcat stated…………….4 hands would probably make it easier. And the thing might be put together a little different than 10 years ago too.

Take your time and you should be fine, I had to rebuild mine a few years ago because the neighborhood kids had broken mine when the school bus stop was my driveway.

UFP manual suggests re-assembly best done with unit upside down. Thats gonna be tough as the winch and winch bracket are welded onto the swing-arm assembly with the tongue- actuator.Couldnt find any video tutorials on youtube eitherIf I didnt have to also bleed the brakes afterwards, Id be a little more enthusiatic about starting on this project.

Its really not that big of a deal. Assemble upside down, turn over slide pins in and your done. When I did mine I didnt unhook the brake lines. There was enough slack to not have to. And I did it with just 2 hands. If you are mechanically inclined and have good motor skills you should have no prblems.

If you decide to disaassemble it. be sure to check the relief hole in the master cylinder. it is very small and will clog with “mud”. this hole removes residual pressure to you brakes. if it is clogged, your brakes will stay engaged and get very very hot.
