Do the Detwiler (now Sea Star) plates not have compatible holes for PP brackets now? I thought the new Bobs plates do as well. I agree though, 2 of my fishing partners have Atlas plates, and Im not impressed at all. Another friend has a detwiler on his 2005, that operates better than the newer Atlas.

I had a detwiler. make sure you take a bit of silicone and go around the bolts that run through the motor (if its the style where the pump is outside the battery bay) because the bolts allowed water to get in and ruin the pump. they were very difficult to get to while attached to the plate and those bolts will only take so many road trips w/o backing off and becoming loose thereby allowing water infiltration.

Theyre all decent plates and I dont feel one is any better than the other. Comes down to personal preference in my opinion.Bobs – external pump which is mounted in the bilge area and takes up space there. Probably the fastest up and down, but likely not near as strong as the Detwiler / Sea Star plate.Detwiler/Sea Star – the strongest of the three. Anodized finish has to be taken care of or will fade. Self contained pump.Atlas – the slowest up and down. Power Poles fit real well. Self contained pump.

Bobs is no longer an eternal pump and it is integrated on the plate. They also go lower than all other plates. The SeaStar will be able to function with a new option, a system for use automatically setting the plate and trim this season. The option is one BCB only worked with SeaStar on and will be branded the “ProTap”. They displayed it at the ICAST show in Orlando and it should be completed soon for production. The prototype units are being final tested now. We hope to see the final version at IBEX in Tampa early October and expect release soon after.
