Ignition Switch

When I turn the key to the ON position nothing happens. If I turn it all the way to START the motor starts and all gauges work. Key goes back to ON position but everything works.--If I turn the key to just barely past ON (without starting motor) the power comes up and I get the beep and can hear the fuel pump prime. It does this every time I try it.If I let the key go back to ON everything goes off. Smart gauge says lost engine connection and then turns off.--If I turn the key to ON and just let it sit - sometimes after a while power comes up, sometimes it doesnt. If I jiggle wires to swich sometimes power comes up, sometimes it doesnt.--I unplugged the plug to the switch to look at the connects and all looks clean and fine.Im pretty sure I need a new ignition switch but wanted to check in to see if there may be anything else to think of.If I need to change switch it appears I just unplug the old one and plug in the new one. I unscrewed the nut on the outside of the switch but couldnt move it out of the hole - I didnt try to force it. It does sound like the key switch is getting dodgy. If its like mine, there is a flat section on the part of the switch that comes through the hole in the dash. It keeps the bezel in place. Those threads can bind a little in trying to get the switch out. A good tap or two should loosen it.

The ignition switches are not a common problem item today. They plug in simply and are a short lead on most brands.

Hey I lost my key for my boat how do i hotwire it . its an emergency.

Here at Lake Eufaula in HOT ALABAMA and I managed to loose my ignition key or just out right left the thing at home.I have the ignition pulled out but a little puzzled on how to jump these wires so I can crank up and hit the water first thing in the morning.Any ideas?Thanks GuysBASSASOM1

We dont know which wire would ignite it. We would just go buy a new ignition switch and they plug in on most models.
