Topic: IMCO tie downs

Went out today. Went to unhook the IMCO tiedown straps on the transom and one of them would not release. Fooled around with it a little and finally took some scissors and cut it so I could go fishing. Does anyone know if you can send them back to the company to have them fixed? Have never had this happen. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

There is a spring on the lever that you push to release them…if it breaks or gets corroded up it will not release. You can normally get down under it and figure out which one to pull/push to get it to release. IMCO might fix it normally by the time they are having troubles it is normally time to replace. I would just replace the set! Imco makes a stainless steel version of those transom ties that are identical to the standard ties. You can pick them up in a set at Gander Mountain, if you have one near you! The standard set runs about $60 and the stainless version is about $70!James
