IMPORTANT MEMO: 60 Incorrect Livewell valves & Information

Guys we have inadvertently used a different valve than we were supposed to. Flow Rite made an error and sent us the wrong valve for our system. The valve we use is the #2 system and we were sent the #3 system valves. These will work fine for most, though the labeling is wrong. To Identify these, the actuating arm on these livewell control valves is green in color. The labels are going to be sent from Flow Rite for those who have these valves. These valves do not have a mix of freshwater and recirculation, they are either or, not both as our valve are. The difference will require you turning your valve arms on the console to match this operation. We apologize for this inconvenience and error on the part of BCB and Flow Rite. We should have caught the error had we questioned the difference in the arm colors and the wrong valves were packaged.

The dealer I bought the boat from is around 300 miles from my house – there are/were no dealers in Georgia when I chose to purchase a Bass Cat.

I don’t have a problem with the 3 position valve, I don’t understand how the livewell is filling up when it was closed when I put the boat in the water. I don’t have a problem removing the screen and plugging the lower hole inside the livewell (I don’t think it is too complicated), I don’t understand how plugging the lower hole is going to help, when the valve was in the closed position – I didn’t run any of the pumps to put water in it. My question is how is the water getting into the livewell? Should I be leaving the valve in the empty position, at least then when I travel from 1 spot to the next it should drain? Sorry to post questions each day.

We will do whatever we can to assist. Please contact Parts and see if they can help to dissect the valve over the telephone and determine what we need to do in order to get you some help there.

We want to be sure that the valve is working properly and then figure the next step out.

Thanks for the response – I’ll put it in the water, try both “closed” positions and look in the livewell to see where the water is coming in from – then I’ll call.

I have the green arm valve. I quess i need a new label and i will install. thought it was odd the way it worked and got to looking down there when i put the detwiler on.

Here is how my livewell works in relation to your last post, 10 – closed, 12 – empty, 2 – ? don’t know the correct term but it fills automatically when you put it in the water. I reviewed all of the posts concerning this situation and didn’t find anything that explains what I needed after I happened upon the empty in the 12 position. I’m not new to fishing just never had much need for a livewell and the dealer rep that went over the boat with me said he didn’t fish, anyway I am fine with the livewell operation now.

I hope to forward my boat number tomorrow to get the new decal – sorry for all of the confusion.
