2009 250 pro xs slidemaster plateI just ran a friends boat and when I got home I noticed all but one bolt on the slide were loose and or falling out . The bolts on the slide . It looks like it has been moving 1/4 inch up and down . How do I set motor back even on the plate ( it was only moving on one side due to one bolt still being tight) , what damage do I look for like on the plate , and how tight should I make the bolts torque specs. ???Oh yeah and I am not thinking its basscats fault just freaking out because I borrow a boat and see bolts falling out when I get home!
Whenever mine have been a little crooked, I just loosen up both sides, move the motor up and down a little to settle it, and if that doesnt even it out, wiggle the skeg till both sides are the same and tighten it back up. Mike
Yeah in this case the bolts were backed all the way out and one side almost set with the plates flush and the other side is 1/4 below . I raised and lowered it shook the skeg and it wants to stay like that Im wondering what the deal is?
If it is like mine could you not loosen both sides and use the adjustment bolt to move the motor up a little then drop it back with the adjustment bolt to make it even? I marked the starting point with a pencil mark.
I can tighten The bolts on one side and keep turning the adjustment bolt forcing the plates even but it wont just drop down evenly . I just dont know whats considered normal and dont want to force it . This is why I am asking here to find out if thats normal or acceptable etc. ? You borrow someones boat you want to return it as good if not better wether its your fault or not period . When I saw the bolts hanging out by a thread I just about came unglued ! Not to mention I borrowed it because mine is waiting for an injector and now his needs a coil . OH WOW WHAT S next ?
madgaffer, Some are naturally out at the top, though the plates are still square. Yours may just be one of those that went unnoticed. It really is not going to effect anything so we would not worry if one side is up slightly as long as the side rails and motor mounting bolts are square to each other
