I dont think the added weight of changing from a manual plate to hydraulic plate will make much difference, if any. Ive heard mixed reviews on the topic as it pertains to Talons, and it seems that Power Poles dont create the problem nearly as often as the Talons, whether that is due to the increased weight, or the geometry of the brackets. I would suggest mounting them as high as possible until you have a chance to run the boat with them mounted. If it becomes a problem, another option may be to run a 4 blade prop to give you more stern lift. I know a guy with a 06-07 range Cougar w/ a 225, and he loves the bravo prop with that hull.
