Topic: Johnson/Mayfair pump-out pump replacement procedure??

OK, the lower of the two pumps pictured developed a crack at the hose nipple and the pump case needs to be replaced.Couple of questions/assumptions:1) Need an in-line replacement Johnson pump, 1000 or 750, doesnt matter?2) The existing hose should fit over the new Johnson pump nipple? (same OD-ID dimension as the older Mayfair pump hose nipple?)3) To remove the existing pump housing, which is siliconed to the wall of the livewell, use a razor blade or exacto knife and carefully carve out old pump? 4) Type of silicone to use?5) Whats the trick to hold the newly siliconed pump in place while the silicone cures?6) Trim the threaded base of the new Johnson pump to fit within the plastic screen?Thanks in advance for sharing your insight / experience!

(same OD-ID dimension as the older Mayfair pump hose nipple?)Should just need a trim and they are hard to seal with the reinforcement. 3) To remove the existing pump housing, which is siliconed to the wall of the livewell, use a razor blade or exacto knife and carefully carve out old pump? Just anything that will wedge it from its mounting. We use a chisel. 4) Type of silicone to use?DOW silicone in most any 781? You pick it as it is it critical in freshwater. 5) Whats the trick to hold the newly siliconed pump in place while the silicone cures?The nut should do this, black plastic nut. 6) Trim the threaded base of the new Johnson pump to fit within the plastic Yes, the threads are full length for universal mounting. Just Trim it to length.

BCB, thanks for the reply(s)!One last question….or two!To access the black retaining nut holding the pump in place I need to remove / twist-off the filter screen inside the livewell?When I attempt to remove said black plastic livewell filter screen, am I likely to destroy it, or does it simply screw on-off?Want to make sure I have a complete list of things to order from Parts before I start to tear this thing apart!

the black screen just twist on and off, no threads just holding tabs.
